      Capture.JPG

      I have the two icons as seen in the upper left corner of this picture, and they open IE differently as you can see below them.

      I've noticed that the one on the right is called a shortcut to .website (notice the '.')

      The problem is that I don't see or have access to the Lastpass icon when it launches this new way.

      Anyone else seen this?

        Post steps to recreate it and I'll post my results - this is wierd.

        Looks like one is launching without addons or in protected mode or something

          To create the old style shortcut, right click on the desktop > New > shortcut > type in the name of a website, www.google.com > Next > give it a name > Finish.

          To create the new style shortcut, open IE, go to www.google.com, allow it to finish loading. Drag the 'g' in the address bar to the desktop.

          When you double click the old one, you should get the tool bar (assuming you have it normally) and when you click the new style one, you won't have it.

            @Dashrender !!!

            Very interesting...

            I don't use IE, so the right click generated one opened normally but the one dragged out of IE actually opened in IE!

              You'll need to default your URL launcher to IE to see the differences. But it looks like IE is now making mostly (though not exclusively) .website files.

                OK more digging this morning and I found this.

                http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cbowen/archive/2015/05/12/internet-explorer-9-pinned-site-shortcuts-vs-internet-shortcuts.aspx

                Basically starting with IE 9, MS introduced Pinned websites vs Internet Shortcuts.

                To create the classic internet shortcut, hold down the shift key while dragging the icon to the left of the URL out of IE to the desktop when creating a shortcut.
