It has been in the past. http://go.unitrends.com/unitrends-and-free-esxi You don't get Host level backups is all.

That's how you backuped before. Agentless will not work on free.

@Dashrender You can do that, but not with the new Unitrends Free product. It's for agentless VM snaps only (at this time)

I've created 5 storage locations, I've created 5 backup jobs, one for each day of the week. Each job points to only one of the storage locations.
Would that work for UEB?
I guess I'll have to dig into the Yellow Belt training to see how archiving works.

That wold only affect Snapshots/Host level backups.

Also, just in case anybody is concerned or thinks I'm an official source for Unitrends information, please view my posts as my thoughts and opinions alone and not representing Unitrends in any way. I hope you guys understand why I have to say this, but think of me as an individual or employee of NTG and do not allow any opinions to be formed of Unitrends as a result of my posts. Wait, Unitrends free is agentless only now? That's pointless. Wow. All this for nothing. I wouldn't even consider it now.

Not only that but you don't get the granularity that you get with agent backups when using host only.

@Dashrender I don't think the new interface will let you set up different backup devices like that... Would have to try to see, but you may potentially be able to add multiple backup devices, but archiving is still the preferred method here.

I'm more concerned that it sounds like there is no more agent for the free version. i.e. will only backup at the VM host level.

Exactly this is really stripped down even from the old free version if so. Unitrends Free will be much more limited.

@Dashrender Just "this" free version, as far as I'm aware the spicyUEB and NFR editions still provide everything they always have.
