I've worked on Sonicwalls. I hate the interface and it's a Dell product, so it's overpriced and overhyped.

Dell only bought and resells it, their internal teams didn't design it. Dell servers are great. But why they were willing to buy or associate with SonicWall is beyond me.

        Cisco / Linksys anyone?

I've never know Dell products to be overpriced or overhyped... generally in the public space it is well understood that you get exactly what you pay for. Overall the quality on all the Dell machines and servers that I have used/deployed has been exemplary.

Linksys is owned by Belkin now, although you wouldn't know it just by glancing at a box. I think Belkin is trying to let people still think Linksys is a Cisco product because consumers have heard of Cisco but not really Belkin. However, if you look at a Linksys box now, the copyright is from Belkin.

Maybe it was just because my last job was at a Dell shop where they were a one-trick show. If you wanted a solution, then you better just want whatever Dell's answer to the problem was.

Need backup? Hope you like AppAssure. Need a firewall? Get used to Sonicwall. So on and so forth. Don't get me wrong. I've seen Optiplexs and PowerEdges, etc deployed many places and they've been great. Just being in a place that felt Dell was the greatest thing on earth kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

Like a lot of Cisco shops that I know 😉 Except Dell has something appropriate for nearly everyone, Cisco - not so much. Ever played with a Cisco UCS? Ugh.

You should feel very dirty and ashamed. It's a horrible product that exists only to pressure suckers who think the Cisco name means something. If you thought that an all Dell shop was bad, this is so many times worse.

Yeah, well, it's where I am. It wouldn't be my first choice but if I learn Cisco, it can help in a lot of potential jobs. I know how you feel about Cisco but it IS used in most enterprises.

We filter for it and issue a warning splash page to streaming media on our Fortigate. Cuts down the bandwidth. Don't see it as a virus though.

I like them. It's what we have here. We have about 50 of the units. I think @PSX_Defector likes them as well.

                                  It's not a phone system. It's a Server/blade based system. http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/servers-unified-computing/index.html

Jeez, I keep mixing up those terms. UCM is the phone system, UCS is the server/hardware. Made that same mistake last week. Thanks for correcting me.

And then UTM is something completely different, that they also make.
