If you know of a way to get my carcass into a real Data Center and achieve employment (mopping floors on up) please don't hesitate
Edit: also, what tools do you use?

I don't yet, I'm just curios and reading up on some so I'm not ignorant.

yeah. super secure, rack/stack/plug/unplug. it's loud, and for me i'd rather access the systems from the sunlight....other than hands on stuff, there's no reason to work "in" the datacenter. It has its merits 🙂 ha

If the one who works in the DC itself... you don't really have the cool job, it's mostly just hardware swaps, etc... becomes mundane fast.

Alright, I will clarify. Working in the NOC, that's in the building that houses the room that is referred to as the Data Center.

Considering whom I've worked for in the past and whom I work for now, yeah, I do lots of datacenter work. 🙂

Big red V uses a combination of various tools from HP and homebrewed connection stuff. Remember that the big red V had been in this business in one way or another for over 15 years.

New place, don't know yet because haven't been here long enough.

Most of the data center's around here I've been in are using Solarwinds' products for most of their management and monitoring.
