So I am switching to Frontier DSL to save some money.

So the Frontier (ATT) 2 Wire router is in the basement, and my router is on the first floor.

I want to use my router is a switch as well as a wireless access point, and let the 2 wire device handle routing, DHCP, etc. since the 2Wire device doesn't support bridge mode.

My router is running dd-wrt. I have disabled the WAN port and disabled DHCP. Wireless works great, but computers connected to the router do not connect. What am I missing here? I feel like I am missing something stupid.

I think you have to change the operational mode from Gateway to router on the DD-WRT Devices.

Having said that I'd replace it with a cheap switch and AP. the UAP is less than $70.

I would keep the dd-wrt over the 2wire as your router. If you. Red a switch I the basement, it should run off the dd-wrt.

I plan to move to a EdgeRouter Lite and Ubiquiti Networks UniFi AP in the future, but I want to get this going for now

I changed it to Router. Still not working, do I need to reboot? 🙂

@JaredBusch So what where you saying? I too would like the dd-wrt to be the main router, however I can't because there is no true bridge mode on the 2Wire device 😞

But there is a method to pass the external ip in.
On the 2Wire, plug in your router to one port and a PC into another port.
From the PC go into the 2Wire config.
Hit firewall (might say advanced firewall? It has been a year since I looked at one.)
                      Find the port forwarding section.
There is an item labeled DMZ Plus mode.
Select this and then select your router from the list of devices.
                      Save.
Reboot the 2Wire and then your router.
Your router should get the external IP.
                      Disable the 2Wire wifi.
Move the PC to your router.

As long as no other device gets plugged in to the 2Wire, you will not have any issues.

Basically, if you have something else in the 2Wire, and forward a port to that device, you lose that port on the device in the DMZ Plus section.

@JaredBusch Yeah, I tried that before but it didn't work for me. I'll try it again tomorrow when I get back from work.

I have one client still using UVerse and they are running like that as I type this.

I ran my pfSense box behind UVerse like this for 3 years.

@thecreativeone91 is right about router vs gateway mode. However, I agree. Let the dd-wrt handle everything if you're goinna do this.
