My first game system

So I haven't had a game system since well, the Atari. I picked up a used PS3 the other day. I'm wondering what games I should buy? Not looking for new releases (if there is still any) but, rather games I can pick on craigslist, ebay or at gamestop.
I currently have the Orange Box (Team Fortress 2, Half-Life EP2, Portal, Half-Life EP1, Half-life 2) Sadly Team Fortress 2 doesn't work anymore since it's online only and EA seems to had remove the servers.
I also have Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit most of the same works however some does for the same reason EA servers seem to be offline now.

Sounds like you're off to a solid start!
See if they have Civ5 for it - I'm a PC gamer and it's given me a ton of enjoyment. May require mouse/keyboard?? (clearly I know nothing about consoles XD)

If this is your first PS3 and you like action adventure (I like adventure, can take or leave the action) then I can't recommend enough that you look into Uncharted! It's a Playstation exclusive title, has two sequels on the PS3 (plus one on the Vita and one on the PS4) and is considered one of the best franchises of the console. And since you can't get it anywhere else, well worth checking out.

+1 to the Uncharted series... Very good story line. Also the only reason I bought my PS3 was for Little Big Planet... if you like a cute, difficult, platformers then you should check out that series.
That's sad about Team Fortress 2, I used to play competitively and it was an amazing game. It has a lot of issues now but still fun to jump on every now and then.
I've also heard great things about The Last of Us. Made by the same developers of the Uncharted series.
