A few people have mentioned that, but most of us can't recreate it and those that have seen it refreshed their browsers and said that it went away.

Posting the job? Because there is a ton of value is using fake job postings to harvest data about job seekers. Compare it to SPAM email or fake Tinder profiles - they are snares to trap the gullible or to just collect general data. It's essentially free and zero effort to do, but an incredibly powerful tool for collecting data or more.
The issue is actually the opposite than you picture. To you it seems like a waste of time. But in reality, it's worth so much money to have fake job postings that it is amazing any real jobs remain at all.

Sometimes they hide it pretty well but sometimes it makes me wonder how dumb the person is doing the actual fake posting.
Scouring Indeed last week to take a peak. (No specific link) I was for a Windows System Administrator/ Azure Admin and the very first item in the list of Duties to Perform was to Admin Unix Linux and AWS.
I think Windows AD was the only MS related item on the posting too.
My guess was it was totally fake or someone messed up the cut/paste job.

While sometimes they are just dumb, for sure, I think that's actually intentional much of the time. Posting clever "looks real" jobs gets you totally different results than a "obviously no one can think this is real" posting. One acts like a honeypot to spot blind blasts, desperation, cluelessness, scams, etc.
If I was willing to do this, even if I had real job postings, I'd want obviously BS ones, too. Then you could filter out people who posted to both because you know they are just scatter shotting and not taking their search seriously.

Yeah, either zero effort, or carefully crafted scam.

Or... both.

It was confusing to me and then I laughed because of all the talk of fake job postings.
