It's not windows based - but Clonzilla does what you want, and you can figure out the script/command line for it too.

        hello.

i'm looking for a windows based (or anything that can be used easily by a non linuxite) FREE imaging app that can perform restores via a script / command line.

I have to reimage 50 new PCs.

in the past i've used free gui based apps, booted up, clicked here and there and the job was done. But i'm getting lazy and would just like to be able to boot up, click on script and walk away.

I could afford up to 10 bucks if the right thing can be found.

        thanks everyone.

        You try MDT?

Does clonezilla run off a usb stick?? I need something that doesn't require a network.

Haha, that's what I've been using 🙂 You can't script restores with the free version.
                Thanks for the help.

Yes, I can't recall if you can have the image repo on the bootable media since it' been a while, but it's definitely an off-line option. When I was using it the USB sticks I could afford weren't big enough to hold an image so it was a USB to boot and an external HDD for the images.

You can do network less MDT deployments.

I think you're looking for the live version: https://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live.php

From what I'm seeing, the Lite version looks like it still wants to use a network source as the image repo.

                          Yes.

I happen to use a network to host my images, I'm sure you could also pull your images from a USB stick as well - though I would expect that to be slow.

An external USB drive with SSD storage might be your best bet.

                            Damn autocorrect.

You can do Offline MDT deployments pretty easily. It can pull in the entire task sequence and dependencies.

This is what I do with Clonezilla for device drive swaps. My usb 3 enclosure has a 1TB SSD in it.

We use Reflect Free and a USB external spinner. It should handle pulling from a NAS allow for centralized storage of images based on hardware type.

I'll try the LIVE version and see what happens.

I did find a nice & easy to use command based tool, that works very well.

Just checked its' price though, it's in euros and conversion puts it out of reach unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

You have screen shots showing the requirement for network access?

I mean, it's an option for sure, but definitely not required.

@dashrender Don't need network access friend.

I took a look at Clonezilla Live, it is nice, but takes me too far away from what I'm looking for, something that will boot up, let me run 1 command a walk away while the PC images.

I spent time with DISM, it works and does what I want, but it's a little slow, but I may have to put up with that.

                                        Thanks everyone for the help.
