I bought a Jeep WJ with a possible bad NSS

Don't know if you realize this yet... but you got robbed.... They took all your toll money!
Looks great - can't beat that deal

Man, you got a sweet deal on that ride. That is dirt cheap and not high mileage at all.
For a southern car, that's fine. If that was in the North, that's all you'd get for it...

I was going to mention this... you are lucky if you can find a 12 year old junker in NY, the salt and snow really does a number on vehicles up here.... I've been looking for an old beater truck that is in ok shape for over a year now, just nothing like that survives up here.

That is probably the only time in my life that I literally threw money away. It was stuck together in a huge sticky blob. I had to remove the cup holder and beat it on the ground to get globs of coins to fall out.

I touched many things that were even grosser than that in this jeep. There was netting that separates the cargo area and I don't know how it could possibly get any more disgusting. It went straight to the trash along with everything else in the jeep including a sunshade, owners manual, and other stuff that was unbelievable nasty. The only thing I kept and cleaned was the jack and the spare.

Some things do just need to go to the thrash.. But change could be dropped in a bucket and washed..
Eh - No big deal.. I do understand.

I've always wanted to get a beater truck for hunting. Going a route like this is probably the cheapest option (and I might learn something)
Do you have any wisdom to share to someone pondering a similar adventure? -

Do you have any wisdom to share to someone pondering a similar adventure?Get a Jeep with a 4.0 Inline 6 motor. Those motors were used for almost 30 years so the parts are cheap and plentiful. Also Jeeps have a religious following so getting support from forums is a cakewalk.
Also if you are willing to get your hands dirty, look for something with minor issues and you could save quite a bit of dough. As long as the engine and transmission are good almost all other parts cost less than $100 including sensors which are usually ridiculously expensive.

I've heard good things about the 4.0 on /r/justrolledintotheshop

Its bulletproof and has stood the test of time. The fuel economy isn't the best for a 6 cylinder, but you get alot of power out of it and they run forever.

Apparently they can be a tad leaky too haha - c'est la vie. I will start looking around here, see what I can find.

Yes pretty much all of them leak oil at the rear main seal (not enough to really hurt anything). Its just a jeep trademark. Also their cooling systems suck
But the good outweighs the bad big time.
