VMware Carbon Black

While still in my first few days, it’s normal to encounter applications you haven’t worked with- yet.
VMware Carbon Black is such an application. Has anyone used this previously?

Sounds like the legendary black discover card...

In this case: cloud endpoint, workload, and container protection

VMware bought it not that long ago. I've seen it many times on customer PCs but haven't worked with it from the admin side.
It can cause some seriously hard to track down problems with Windows applications. Like it's 90% of the app is working but 10% is not.

We're using the monitoring and discovery portion of it. Decent but would steer towards Defender for Endpoint or Crowdstrike.

I've only ever heard of Crowdstrike - as for Defender - do you mean the included bits with Windows 10? or the supp'ed up version MS sells?

Supp'ed up version.

Just the old Carbon Black AV that VMware bought and slapped their brand on. It's just another "why would you deploy that" third party AV for resellers to sell to suckers.

Like most third party AV. That's why that stuff has been a "no no" for years.
