Duplicati - How to exclude based on date (filtering)
-
Duplicati does not allow you to use a filter for selecting files based on either creation or modified date.
Have any of you needed to overcome this? and if so, how did you?
-
Doesn't Duplicati use deduplication so this shouldn't be critical?
-
But to hopefully answer the question would --changed-files do what you want?
-
I see there are 2 replies, but I can't see them.
This is all I see:

Then I guess you shouldn't be ignoring me.

@JaredBusch Thanks Jared. Not sure why I can't see those two replies.

@JaredBusch Huh. I wonder how that happened. Thanks! Now I can see his posts!

Go with, because @DustinB3403 is often an ass and no one wants to see his rantings.

How does deduplication stop files older than 3 months from getting backed up?

Deduplication should see that the indentical hash exists and simply doesn't take a backup of the file in question. Of course this is somewhat limited based on the types of files you're backing up (text, photo video music etc) and would have differing results.
Data deduplication works by comparing blocks of data or objects (files) in order to detect duplicates. ... Once it is determined that a block of data already exists in the deduplication repository, the block is replaced with a Virtual Index Pointer linking the new sub-block to the existing block of data in the repository.

Your answer applies AFTER the file has been backed up. I don't want it backed up at all.

The original would be backed up, not the duplicate. You'd have an index to the original file in the location of the duplicate, not actually the duplicate.

Now I remember why I blocked you before. And now again.
