Zoho Assist problem
-
Trying to use Zoho Assist (remote software like Teamviewer) to connect to an ubuntu machine but can't get it to work.
It requires that you install an agent.Anyone here that uses Zoho Assist?
@scottalanmiller @dbeato perhaps? -
The times I've poked around with Zoho Assist, it does install an agent like LogMeIn Rescue.

Yes. I know that it will not work in a Wayland environment. If I have, I'll do some testing and verify which distro worked.

@scottalanmiller @dbeato perhaps?No, we love Zoho but we use MeshCentral for that particular function.

I didn't have any issues with Debian-based distros: Ubuntu, Mint, Pop_OS. I had some minor issues with Fedora and CentOS with the agent crashing. I didn't take the time to dive into troubleshooting.

The actual problem I saw was when running the agent it thru an error immediately. It was ubuntu but not 20.10 that you used in your video so I'll will go back and repeat with that version.
But I wonder though why they don't just package the agent in a deb/rpm file instead?

For RHEL, CentOS, and Fedora that have Wayland enabled and is set to Wayland session by default when logging in. You would have to log out and then select GNOME on Xorg before you log in so you can remote desktop into them using remote tools like MeshCentral or TeamViewer.
Lately I've been disabling Wayland and selecting Xorg as the default GNOME session for that reason.
