USB Charging
-
So some guys are selling a USB cable that allows you to turn off data sync which allows the device to be charged twice as fast when connected to a computer.
Here's the link.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sonicable-the-world-s-most-advanced-charging-cable#activityWouldn't you get even faster charging by plugging directly into the wall with a USB wall wart? Of course the top end charging speed is determined by the phone/battery itself.
-
And on another note, does the iPhone 6 not use USB 3 charging? The Note 4 will charge in something like 2-3 hours over USB 3's higher output.
-
No, that would not speed it up when connected to the wall as the wall already behaves that way.
-
Even if the charging speed is the same for wall vs charge only cable on a computer - would you really want to spend $50 on a cable (normal price - indiegogo is currently $27) for something your wall wart will already do?
-
This would be nice if you are a person who travels a ton and wants to keep the cable sprawl down to a minimum. Though I still carry my wall blocks for everything.

Interesting idea albeit seemingly a waste to me...

I like it. I could see myself buying one at some point after its been on the market for a little while. I think the price point is a little high. $19.99 sounds much better to me

The quality of this cable appears to be pretty nice - I just threw away our first Samsung cable because it's not reliably charging devices anymore. Thought i'm not sure if it's the cable or the connector.
