Verzon One Talk - Yeallink T41s no dialtone on handset (works on speakerphone)
-
Is there a PBX between the endpoints and Verizon One Talk or is each handset directly connecting to Verizon One via it's sip account?
-
@DustinB3403 Direct connection to the internet

Okay, so likely an issue with the carrier. Just confirming but are the phones current with their firmware?
-
@DustinB3403 That's what I suspect - it's some sort of weird firmware issue. I can see the current firmware installed is 66.81.21.11 but I can't find online what the current firmware online

I just provided you the link.
66.84.0.90 is current (so those phones are far out of date).
-
@frodooftheshire Have you been able to update any of these with the updated firmware?
-
@DustinB3403 Thanks for the link. It looks like their running a custom version of the firmware from Verizon and I'm not sure I'll be able to update to the generic firmware. We've kicked the issue back to Verizon - it was originally thought it was a network issue.

Gotcha, well I wish you luck. As an side note, it might be substantially less painful to just switch to another sip provider like voip.ms
(just saying)

This doesn't tell us if there's a PBX involved or not. Though I'm going to assume the phone is connecting directly to the Verizon SIP trunk.

Oh that sucks - one more reason to not user Verizon!!!
Tell them to dump them and move to VOIP.ms, lol then they can use their own phone with standard firmware.
-
I wasn't too thrilled when they picked this option as Verizon is new to VOIP and their software isn't very mature. Haven't heard of voIP.ms but it's not super confidence inspiring when their feature page is rendering weird in chrome...

From a web interface I agree their site needs a face lift, but their offering is rock solid and the pricing is unmatched.
-
But for what it's worth this is what I see.

Well, Skyetel crushes the pricing

Voip.ms is one of the market leaders. Verizon is a nobody in this market.
-
@scottalanmiller That's cool. I agree with you. Verizon is a newbie which is why I wasn't thrilled with their choice. It says that voip.ms has 75,000 customers. Ring Central in contrast has over 2 million "users." It's weird that in all the years I've never heard of voip.ms when evaluating different service providers.

Ring Central is almost as bad as Verizon, avoid them at all costs.

@DustinB3403 I haven't had any issues with Ring Central - for myself or clients. Their software for iOS for my cell phone has been pretty excellent as well. Maybe you've had bad experiences? Maybe you don't like their pricing?

Vendor lock in, pricing, support response times (and attitude), sales tactics.
All around they just suck.

@DustinB3403 Support isn't perfect but it is 24/7 and if you're bigger company you get dedicated US support. Service reliability/software has been great across the board as well. Device lock in isn't really an issue for me as long as you offer good options. I do have a Polycom VVX 601 I bought off Amazon which works fine, but I mainly using the iOS app as I spend a good chunk of time traveling to customers and texting/calling has been pretty great.
