Odd - my old phone is still getting SMS messages when my SIM is in my new phone.

I started by setting up the windows phone without a SIM card, got on wireless and got my email and a few other things running. The following day I powered down my Galaxy S4, removed the SIM card, put it in the powered off 635, and then powered it on.
For the first several days things worked like normal - basically the S4 was useless unless I was attached to a wifi connection, but I didn't receive SMS messages either (not that I expected to).
About 4 days ago now, I heard my S4 start chirping the SMS sound - Weird so I picked it up and sure enough there was most if not all of the SMS messages I had received since I had removed the SIM card. Since then the S4 seems to get a glut of SMS 2-3 times a day.
Any ideas?
When I was on T-Mobile, they'd give me a new SIM card when I switched phones, but maybe that's just them.

You would think that some sort of security code ON the SIM would be required to get the messages - apparently not.
What's even weirder, I now that that not only are the incoming messages on the S4, but my outgoing ones are there too.

Is your new phone an Android device too? Is the S4 hooked up to wifi?

Is it getting txt or is it doing something like Apple iMessager.

I'm unaware of anything in Android that is iMessager like - are you?
The new device is a Windows Phone 8.1 - I'm using my Office 365 account on both devices still, I have my corporate Exchange on the S4, and gmail on the S4, but neither on the Windows Phone.

OK this made me think of something - Both devices are AT&T devices. I am using the AT&T messaging app on the S4. There doesn't seem to be any AT&T specific apps on the Windows Phone.
I wonder if the AT&T messaging app can have a data connection to AT&T's SMS system somehow and pull copies off? in this way it would sorta act like iMessage...

It's possible. I use Hangouts as my SMS client, but you can still go into the default Android app at any point and all the messages that are SMS for my cell phone number are there. Hangouts just gets a copy. This is likely what's happening.

No, not aware but I would not likely be aware so I figured that it was possible.

Yep, this is what happens for me as well (with Google Voice). Hangouts acts as the iMessage-esque client for Android. If I have Hangout on any of my phones I can get the SMS message that comes into Google Voice (although that may be different for the stock SMS messenger).

Yup, exactly, and with Hangouts, that includes the PC, for Google Chat and Google Voice messages. For your actual cellphone SMS messages, they are just copied into Hangouts.
