Been fighting 1 stupid O365 install... Outlook went from asking for a password 10x a day to throwing crazy errors and not accepting the user's password to just plain old won't open. I finally got his email set up on a different desktop so he could keep working while I wait around on MS support to take their sweet time getting back to me.

Why not wipe and reload? or did you try that already and it didn't matter?

Not an option, plus he's still on Win 7. But now he knows that won't last much longer.

LOL - all the more reason to move him now and stop wasting time. Though - if the company won't allow it, I'm guessing you're not in a position to over ride them

He's one of the top level devs and I can't leave him computerless for an entire day... customer stuff. It's crunch time for most of our customers this time of year. Plus I usually give them the new OS on a new/different PC, then they get a couple of weeks with both so they can get the new one set up the way they like. Then I ask if they're done with the old one, and they always say "no, I haven't had any time to move stuff!". So that's fun.

LOL - I get that. I solve that by simply copying their old computer HD to their new one - and let them dig through it to get what they need.
But my situation is very different from yours... I have very few users who use more than just a browser these days.

Considering migrating a few simple services to a linux distro so I can free up a MS Server license for other things. We don't need the license, but I hate using it for something so trivial.

Wow - that video is just bad. Horrible audio to start, followed by the first 2 mins they just keep saying POE, switch, NAS over and over again.

Going through the process of learning bash scripting in general, but also specifically in regards to database manipulation. Any resources you guys have would be greatly appreciated 😄

Generally you don't manipulate databases with BASH. It's not a language meant for that.

I was given a QNAP as part of a project (We had no say in what was purchased, sadly), and I don't have any problems with it. I backup 15 OS disks to it with no issue.

The interface works, and isn't terribly hard to figure out. I mean we're using it as a backup target. It hasn't been terrible for that.

The OS is fine. It's the support that was always the problem.

That's the thing about appliances, their value is determined by something you can't verify until something goes wrong.
