I'll have to give it another shot though with my HP Omen.
Nvidia can be a pain on Fedora.

I've been keeping an eye on Proton - it sounds like some seriously impressive work on the Linux gaming front. With how many games are listed as Platinum, or only have minor issues, it looks like Proton is making gaming on Linux a serious possibility instead of wishful thinking.
I am very happy to see this - I plan to move to something like Solus w/ Budgie as my primary OS at home instead of "upgrading" to Windows 10.
The biggest issue appears to be the time necessary to test them to make sure that they work

All my main machines are Fedora, Ubuntu, or ChromeOS now.

Am I too picky? HahaRumour is is that it is really good performance. Remember, this is NOT an emulator.

Am I too picky? HahaActually, I played WoW using PlayOnLinux for a little bit during Cataclysm. WoW actually ran better on Linux than it did in Windows. I seriously need to get off my Lazy butt and get my laptop back on Linux again.
Yeah, it's actually not hard to beat Windows at their own game, their own code is so bloated. Famously, 15 years ago, it was faster to virtualize Windows on top of Linux than to run it on bare better, because Linux was so much faster!

Right, Proton uses Wine for some things to keep from duplicating effort. Wine is simply Windows libraries rewritten as open source. So no emulation, all native.

*Sigh.........this is true...While playing Warhammer 2, Nvidia geforce experience keeps crashing randomly on me. I restart and it's fine.
Before having this issue, I was having some other funky driver issue by Nvidia with the same game. Had to reinstall Windows (didn't mind though, it needed to be done) -

Under normal conditions, there is absolutely nothing to do. Just install and everything is handled for you. There are exceptions, normally with less common laptops using multiple graphics cards, but for normal Nvidia and Radeon, everything is so much easier than on Windows.
Ubuntu, for example, just install and select "third party drivers" during install and it handles everything for you, unlike Windows where you constantly have to deal with a buggy third party Nvidia installer than causes all kinds of problems.

I never use Arch, it's so goofy. Ubuntu and Fedora are what I use. Fedora is the only place I've tested Proton.

@scottalanmiller How's Fedora these days for daily desktop use? I haven't really looked at it since probably version 20, and only recently on the server side. From what I have seen though, it seems like a real nice choice.
Solus and Ubuntu were what I saw most frequently recommended for Linux gaming. I can't stand Ubuntu, so I'll likely decide between Solus and Fedora.

amazing tech, and works near-identical but due to anti cheat engines being in nature closed and deep-rooted in windows kernel many games won't work if they utilize anti-cheat
