I'm thinking that something involving IFTTT and smart bulbs shouldn't be too difficult to set up

I've been kind of looking at those today also..

I have this same problem.. luckily, I'm never on call.

Aren't you technically always on call? You're the entire department right

          This:
          https://www.radwell.com/en-US/Buy/KROWN MANUFACTURING/KROWN MANUFACTURING/K-RA005

          Plus this:
          https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/unified-communications/ata-190-series-analog-telephone-adapters/index.html

Plus Follow Me (or call forwarding at a minimum) on your cell phone should wake the dead.. Just turn it on at bed time and off in the morning.

Or at least get you thinking in a direction that you may not have thought of.....

I despise being on-call. sadly it comes around every four weeks... well at least for now. Not sure about the new gig yet.

I've got to have a loud annoying ring tone. And it can't sit next to me. While I have a huge problem with sleeping, I can sleep through it. So I found a few tones on Zedge and use them.

Of course if it goes off and I miss it,.. I can expect a punch in the shoulder from my wife to go turn it off... she likes her sleep too....

I sleep with a smart watch on my wrist and a phone under my pillow. I am bound to wake up.

Or how about they just call until you answer. On call does not mean, not allowed to sleep.

It calls 5 times then goes to my boss, which is where the problem rises.

I've missed all 5 calls a few times.

No, not really. We have nothing critical - one could argue that email is border line, but it's really not. Hell, we've recently had meetings where we've been told - people don't just sit in front of their computers waiting for email, and other who simply don't ever read it, so it's not a reliable way to communicate with staff. I just sighed.

I've been called at 5 AM, when the first staff arrive in the morning, because internet access was down. that's fairly critical since our EHR is hosted (could be cloud, but really don't think it is). But even that access is not deemed critical enough to have a failover.

Phone under pillow would never work for me.. two things 1) I move so much the phone would be under the bed for sure, 2) it would be to muffled and I'd sleep through any vibration.

The watch though... that might help.

cant sleep with it under the pillow, Dont think it'll work like that.
this is what I've been doing lately, Haven't had any calls super late, the one i did apparently the smart watch was dead.

I move a lot and it stays put. I don''t have a case, so the phone is very smooth. It doesn't shift around from the pillow moving.

I can wake up from vibrations from a phone a floor away so....
