I want to be able to redeploy our printers using lpadmin, and preferable skip using cups entirely. But I've yet to find the options needed with lpadmin to set the user default preferences required.

Essentially I would like to remotely set all users to by default print to a non-pin enabled mailbox. IE Mailbox 99

I've found the precursor options for at least one of our printers within the CUPS web interface under

      Administration > Job Info 1 > Destination:

      Printer
      Mailbox
      Secured Print
      Form Store

And while setting the option here manually to mailbox, sets the basic default, I can't find a option to set the mailbox number.

Looking for pointers from any of you Printer lpadmin/CUPS gurus who may know where this setting resides.

The goal being to prevent people from just printing something, forgetting about it and leaving a pile of wasted paper on the printer that just goes into the recycle bin.

While I found where OSX stores the user printer preferences, but copying a "working version of preferences" to the user workstation and directory doesn't set the preferences.

Still investigating. May require a restart when doing this remotely. . .

Full system restart or just the cups service?

Just did a full system restart and no change. While the plist file is there, and the user has owner access to it, the changes don't appear to take effect.

              Not sure why.
