      What are you using now?

Nothing, I don't feel like anything is necessary with current OSes. I was only using it to confirm TRIM, AHCI, etc. on older Windows

I guess it can be useful to check the life of the SSD, but I think the performance stuff is probably negligible

Used it a few times to check it out when I first started buying SSDs. I have not installed it in a while. Don't feel it is necessary.

I still install it every time. It's how you get firmware updates for your SSD as well as being able to make some performance tweaks if you wish. I generally use it as a performance benchmark though and look for firmware updates

Have you ever actually seen firmware updates? I ran it for years and never saw a single one.

@bnrstnr Yes, I actually just did one the other day on a 860 EVO. I installed the latest version of Magician from their site and after it loaded, it showed a firmware update available. They aren't frequent, but I have seen them from time to time.

I have it but only really use it to check drive status and for firmware updates. I did used to use the RAPID mode, but it essentially just fills up available RAM with cached files.

Same here. Really couldn't tell that great a performance difference with RAPID mode on and I was getting low memory errors. Magician performance metrics said that it was faster, but real world not a meaningful difference. I never use it now.

I used it for its Secure Erase feature and firmware updates at my last job.

I've used it a couple of times, but since I started using the DC series of drives it's pointless. Only for their consumer class drives. It's great for firmware and secure erase if you have a compatible drive.
