Windows: Set screen to blank when locked?
-
This is a Windows question - is it possible to set the screen to blank (aka sleep) when you lock windows (win-L or other way)?
-
Ya, hit the Windows key, then start typing lock screen. Settings are right there.

I don't see any option other than perhaps setting it to a black picture.
-
Did you want it to actually go to sleep when you lock it? Then wake up when you move the mouse? or just really you want a black/blank screen?
-
You got to Settings, Select Personalization, Select Lock Screen, Change the Background to be picture and select a picture that is Black

Sorry, I should have explained more clearly what I'm try to accomplish.
I want to screen to blank, which is what causes the screen to go into power saving mode. Not just setting it to a black color.
Blanking is tech speak for when the graphics adapter would turn of either one or both of the horizontal and vertical sync signals and thereby communicate to the display that the screen is not in use and it can go into one of it's power saving modes.
Lock windows computer =>> screen goes into power save mode right away.
Computer don't go into sleep until it does so by it's normal settings. -
@Pete-S what's the end goal? To have the computer go to sleep or standby after x minutes?
-
I'm unaware of any built into Windows option for this... there might be a 3rd party gadget that would do it.
-
well if you lock your pc you're saying it goes into power save mode right away, then just set your PC to go to sleep after 1 minute for both on battery and plugged in.
