No, it's the oldest. Windows would be the high end option.

It's not a PC port, it's one of the original platforms. It's the best place to play it since you get the best experience there.
"Games like this" have been best on PCs for quite some time. Square Enix does many platforms, but they lean heavily towards PC as their primary.

Started playing DQ 8 on a PS2 Emulator. So far, the game is great Not far into it yet.

I'm enjoying the blend of humor and even life lessons they keep sneaking in there, lol.

Edit: DQ 8 plays better with graphics acceleration set to OpenGL -- otherwise some cutscenes and flashbacks don't play right.

Assuming you have RPMFusion repos added (which you need for video playback in general), it is in the repo
dnf install pcsx2
