NextCloud Talk - Voice, Video, and ScreenSharing
-
The one big feature that I really, really want to see added to NextCloud Talk screen sharing is the ability to have remote input - letting viewers request control so that they can do remote assistance through the system. That would escalate the utility to a whole new level.
-
They defiantly have created a really good mature product.
-
NC Talk has no use for our organization. But only because I would be the only one using it.
NC is a great product over all.

Other than our pure customer support tools, email, and Rocket.Chat, NC is the core of our business infrastructure.

@scottalanmiller Have you thought about implementing only office into NC? - I'm thinking of setting up a VM to see how well they work together.

We did, and built a VM for it, but had some issues as the documentation was only for a different kind of simpler set up so it didn't work. But since then we got CODE from Collabora working with the same setup, so likely we could get OnlyOffice working now, too, through the same system. But the OnlyOffice plugin wasn't kept up to date, so we removed it when we updated to the latest NC version.
-
We are an OpenDocument Format native company, with LibreOffice on desktops. So our need for MS Office editing is minimal, so we have no driving need for anything beyond or different from LibreOffice. Using OnlyOffice would be nice for those times, but not a big deal like an organization that uses MS Office formats natively.

@scottalanmiller Good to see you have kicked MS office to the kerb...you are using Zimbra for your email as well? have they got round to updating the UI yet?

We use...
FreePBX for phones.
Zimbra for email.
NextCloud for storage.
Rocket.Chat for real time chat.
LibreOffice / CODE for office formats and editing.
Fedora 29 for our desktops.
Inkscape for vector editing. -
Sadly, no, the interface remains over a decade old. Functional, but....
-
I really want to like Rocket but the mobile notifications are TERRIBLE. We have users on Android and iOS and, IF they get the notification, it's likely delayed.
Also, when chatting using the desktop app, we'll eventually get a notification on our mobile devices for the last ~10 things that were said.Nextcloud Talk's notifications work far better BUT, notifications only work with @mentions which is really a let down as you can't just have a team conversation without using @ to talk to people so they get notifications..
