MeshCentral - Anyone tried this?

much less expensive than Connectwise.
Less features too.

I've just glanced at the home page here. Are the clients all talking back to an internet server you log into?

They talk back to where ever the config file tells them to talk.
You can install the host anywhere you want. For me, it would obviously be based on some publicly available location with proper DNS resolution.
It uses only ports 80/443, but has some optional port 4443 active or something by default. The video wasn't real clear.

Going to backtrack that statement after watching the video. All the big features seem to be there.
-
Wow, and fully multi client ready.

Wow, that's crazy. Now I'm excited.

Video looks like Windows only? No Mac or Linux?
-
In the video he mentioned "DOS or Linux terminal". But shows CMD. It's unclear if he used the term correctly and it supports Linux, or if he is oddly referring to the concept of a command line as being "Linux?"

- Stop skimming.
- Pay attention.
- How the hell would you expect a Linux terminal to be shown when the only guest computer was a windows computer in the video?
-
Ah, video appears to not be current. Linux is mentioned on one of their pages if you hunt around. No mention of macOS, though.

WTF.... It is mentioned directly in the beginning of the video.

Where did I skim? I'm digging for this info. There doesn't appear to be anywhere that they list what platforms the agents run on. Google found nothing, either.

No mention of macOS, though.
But no one cared anyway

NO, that's where the server can be installed, not where the agents can.

Um... how many people use this kind of stuff and only want to remotely view Windows and Linux? Nearly all have to deal with Mac. Way more than have to deal with Linux.

I don't understand this... who is this no one that you think doesn't care about macOS support?

macOS support is a pretty critical feature of ScreenConnect, for example.
-
Looking at GitHub, an OSX agent is listed in the code.

I need to look into the git status.
The original project has been around since 2009.
The new versions seems to be nice with the modern standards.
But this bit is odd. I need ot look more into the history of this project it seems.
