I hate when stuff is put into GPOs that create unnecessary dependencies on that GPO.

Learned tonight that by default tcp 445 (SMB) is blocked on Hyper-V Server 2016.

Yeah, they block it on Hyperv as it is not mean to be a file server ๐Ÿ™‚

Makes perfect sense. I was going to copy some ISOs to my Hyper-V server via administrative shares. Of course, there are other ways to accomplish this. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, you need to do that. So that's totally cool.

It works by default when domain joined using domain admin creds. never tried any other setup.

Yeah. That makes sense too. The windows box Iโ€™ll be using for hyper-v manager isnโ€™t on a domain; thus, Iโ€™ve jumped through the necessary hoops to get hyoerv manager to connect.

Just finished cleaning out files and accounts from old users. Security improved and space freed up on the file server. Boring, but important to keep up on.

Wondering how you get the "old" generation to see other options as valid business options ๐Ÿ™‚ and not what the "sales" people tell them?

                                          e.g.
Hyperconverged (e.g. Scale) over 3-2-1 SAN setup.
Using FreePBX instead of paid for onprem BCM/AVAYA phone systems?
