We're excited to announce that MangoCon 2019 will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Las Colinas! This brand new venue is located in the Toyota Music Factory complex and is surrounded by restaurants and bars with plenty of hotels nearby. It's close to both DFW and Love Field airports, so no matter from where you're flying, it will be easy to get to.

@JaredBusch brought to our attention that it's so new that the GoogleMaps satellite view still shows it as a pile of dirt! So we will be heading down there to confirm the existence of sidewalks between the Alamo Drafthouse and the closest hotels. Please stay tuned for a list of hotels and other attractions in the area, and MangoCon welcomes you to Dallas!

We've found that you don't really save money on the room rate when reserving a block, vs reserving via booking.com, expedia, etc., so no, we hadn't planned on it. Also, there are hotels from several different chains nearby, so this way people can just book their preferred brand on their own.

Sounds good. I had planned on searching myself, but if there was going to be a block, I'd use it for convenience :D.

I'll have to look, but hotels in any area rarely match what you can get at an AirBnB. If you can split up an entire apartment/house, the difference can be huge.

There is nothing else here. It was dirt a year ago.

It is strictly an entertainment and convention area built from scratch.

Maybe they are building some condos that some people will Airbnb out. But the odds are low for now. It is too immature of a district.

The Holiday Inn Express half a mile to the north is likely the cheapest option.

I wouldn't have expected airBNB to be next door to this area.

Glad to hear - It should be a good time and a great conference. The area is fairly new, but plenty of things to do in the area. We're planning on a couple of events that should turn out to be a good time.

Used to live walking distance from there before that area blew up and got fancy.
Right by the La Cima Club where Scott, Dominica and I spent way too much money on food and drinks.
