USB as a Main Storage device

And we can't put the drive somewhere else to put something on it and then re-introduce it to the server?
Not really. Only if one of the other R510s is working. I think that that was suggested early. There are three of them there, try another one.
-
@scottalanmiller The second one is having the same issue. I'm clearly doing something wrong here.
-
I'm struggling to find an R510 specific guide and I don't have access to one to look at BIOS screens. Here is the screens from a slightly earlier BIOS, does what you have resemble this at all?

-
@scottalanmiller Exactly the same as what I've got.
-
You followed the steps there?
-
@scottalanmiller No, I thought you were just using it for reference. I'll start in just a moment.
-
Well I wanted to see if it was the same BIOS or not, they can change between generations but do not always. It might give us some steps that we were not aware of.
-
@scottalanmiller I toyed around with the config for a few hours (the above guide didn't work for me, a few of the options weren't there), and after trying different combinations of Virtual Drive settings, I now have the Raid 0 Configured, the USB virtual drives figured out if we want to use a single USB as both installation storage media, and I have XenServer installing now. The BIOS update didn't work, but it's all working properly without it. Turns out I had just not seen every setting. I'm not an expert on this stuff

Awesome, so we are moving forward!!
-
@scottalanmiller We certainly are!
-
Well @Mike-Ralston now you do know. Learning the best way possible.

Speaking of moving forward... What's the next step?
-
Is XenServer fully installed? We need XenCenter installed on the Windows box in the lab.
-
@scottalanmiller Both already done.
-
Sweet, is XenCenter attached to the XenServer so that you can see it from there?
-
@scottalanmiller No. How do I go about doing that?
-
Try this, on the XenCenter machine go to Add New Server in the XenCenter application. You'll need the IP address and root password of the XenServer that you just built.
-
@scottalanmiller Is that all?

Yep. XenCenter is fairly easy... until it is time to update the server.
-
@scottalanmiller Windows box that XenCenter was on was just being extremely sluggish. The XenServer and XenCenter are linked now, and I can see the drive on the server and it's information and such.
