Huawei and ZTE handed 5G network ban in Australia
Chinese smartphone maker Huawei says the Australian government has banned it from providing 5G technology for the country's wireless networks.
It said fellow communications firm ZTE had also been banned, both reportedly because of national security concerns.
"This is a extremely disappointing result for consumers," the company said on Twitter.
Faster data download and upload speeds are promised with 5G, which is the next stage of mobile internet connectivity.
Wider coverage and more stable connections than current 4G technology are also highlighted as benefits.

But they allowed them 4G ? seems 100% political decision.
Someone needs to check is the Australian government got check from Trump. -
@emad-r Huawei was also banned from from us for US Government jobs over these same concerns. As far as I know, Trump hasn't tweeted about this or made it his agenda (not that I follow the guy).

Pretty much, doesn't seem like any true concerns there.

ZTE was banned over concerns. Huawei was, AFAIK, banned in a sweep with ZTE and there were no concerns that I've ever heard.

@scottalanmiller I keep watching this as I have 2 Huawei phones. I have never seen any evidence they do anything questionable. Even if they did I would then have to compare to what Apple and Samsung do

I doubt that they do. I've not heard of any issues from them at all. People really like their devices.

@scottalanmiller Yeah I love mine. They have been so solid. Nothing ever goes wrong. So fast too, great processor.

He 'banned' them, then was willing to not ban them once China agreed to allow a Trump casino in China.
