We got one of these the other week:

      https://www.barco.com/en/product/clickshare-cse-200

It works great. It's not exactly plug in and push the button as they say it is. You have to browse to the device you plug into your computer, then run an EXE. Then you can push the button and it just works. Super simple, but a show stopper if you have guests that come in with computers that don't allow external storage devices or restrict USB key browsing.

      Or run Linux?

Yeah that'd do it too, no Linux support.

What wireless presentation solutions are there on Linux. I've looked in the past but not recently, and the functionality didn't seem "there".

What we need is our users to be able to walk into any conference area and simply present, from their laptops, be it windows or apple.

@emad-r this is for business and has to be a solid and works 99.9% of the time as I wouldn't dare to have our users use something patched together.

Currently we have a bunch of AppleTVs and while these work for the majority of our staff, it doesn't work for the remaining portion or clients who come in with PCs.

The Barco Clickshare works well for that.

Except for Apple changing the connectivity options on every years model.

A lot of newer hardware only have USB-C.

Keep a usbc to USB adapter around...

I can't think of any solution that works really well across a multitude of devices and is completely wireless.

I could see something like a wireless VGA / HDMI transmitter and receiver set up. That way, at least any device with a VGA or HDMI connection could wire in and present with few issues.

At my current job if somebody is coming in to present, we ask that they bring their presentation on USB and then they use one of the VDI systems in the room to run their presentation from.

There is no one size fits all. Most devices have USB or an adapter that will make it available. That's your best bet.

Tried a few of those (good ones) in some conference rooms. They are great on paper, but works poorly in practice. We boxed ours up and moved on.
