The quick and easy one is to put a cut sticky note on the bottom of their mouse.

clear tape is the next level. mouse is erratic and hard to see what the problem is.

This is not IT to IT, but someone once put a hard boiled egg in my office. Hidden, where I couldn't find it.
After weeks and weeks of me complaining about a foul smell, they finally let me in on the "joke".
That was one disgusting moldy egg. Yuck.

I may or may not have done stuff like unplugging the ethernet cable halfway. Putting vaseline on their headset. I also may or may not have spent 2 hours coding my own version of match.com (back when that was a thing) and then updated DNS for the entire office for an elaborate prank.

So one time at "the bank" someone put an entry in the /etc/hosts table that was something like this...
192.168.1.5 192.168.1.9
And you can imagine the problems that ensued as people could not ever ping the right box.

Had something that wasn't intentional happen when a printer company changed a printer, and put the IP address of the gateway as the new IP of the printer, didn't notice straight away why the internet access was a bit flaky...that was a funny one..

I once worked at a place where @andyw created a tiny hidden "virus" application that would, from time to time, on an unpredictable basis, make a turkey sound from the PC speaker. Took months for people to figure out what was going on. It was so fast, they just thought that there was something living in the office.
There was a popular one a long time ago that would burp. The only way to turn it off was to put your mouse in the top left corner of the screen.

Someone did the same thing at the last place I worked. Being a DoD contractor they went overboard and "thought they were being bugged". Needless to say that wasn't a fun environment to work in.
