Self hosted?

Is there any self hosted options for SodiumSuite? Where is the source code? Isn't it a security concern assigning an unknown master? Is it possible to use SodiumSuite just for monitoring your current installation of salt? Thanks.

No self hosted, I'm afraid. It's not an open source product.
-
Not many self hosted RMM solutions out there.

It's definitely something that has been discussed, but it's a major leap for support and deployment. It's something we'd like to have, but is very non-trivial.

Well complete control of systems (salt) to an unknown closed source company is a massive security risk, definitely will have to look elsewhere. What is the reason that it is not open source?

Complete control is something you give any RMM.
I currently use Atera for a few things, and I can do anything I want from the Atera console because I can run CMD and PowerShell scripts.

This is the first i heard of the term "RMM"... You can remote monitor with checkmk/nagios/ocs inventory/wazuh/ossec for free and open source and manage with salt/puppet/ansible/chef for free open source... so essentially "RMM" is just the two combined? And noone has yet to comine the two open source?

There are zero good OpenSource RMM solutions.

sounds like its time to start one

No money in it.
That's the key problem, no one is interested in the enormous cost and effort of making such a system, which would then be used by MSPs. MSPs aren't known for being big on open source or contributing back very much. Not a market of interest to most open source people.
RMM lives and dies by being the hosting for it, making open source for that just isn't a natural fit. There is a reason why none exists.

@scottalanmiller TL:DR
No money; not doing it.

I totally get why people would want open source and self hosted RMM options. But you can determine how much of a serious market there is for that by looking to see how many offers for funding there are.
Everyone asks for it, but no one has come forward offering to fund such an endeavor. To an open source project, that pretty much shows that there isn't any serious interest.
