            VLC Media Player has a basic screen recording feature.

                  OBS works well, but what the OP is asking for is a video editing function. The recording software doesn't / can't do this soft of thing on the fly.

                  I'm sure there are some free and open source options to edit video. I'm just drawing a blank atm.

                      oCam http://ohsoft.net/eng/ is a nice piece of software for screen recording for Windows.

                        Actually, yes, some presentation creation software does this. I used it a while back, but not sure what it was called. It was someone else showing me how it worked.

                          I am using movavi suite for my videos (an 0365 administration training videos in progress) which has similar functions requested by op. You can zoom in to specific areas and such

                          I think they have the individual screen recorder as well but i got the video suite
