Level 1 Basic Training -Network fundamentals

For someone just starting out in level 1 helpdesk, where would be a great place for them to get started on BASIC networking fundamentals?
I've personally used PluralSight in the past. They are still $29/user at the moment (their site says this will increase shortly)
I've also briefly looked at Cybrary. These guys appear to be free but I have no experience with them. https://www.cybrary.it/course/comptia-network-plus/The level of training I am looking for is for someone who has zero IT experience, but wants to start a career in support/helpdesk. (Not bench)
Any recommendations would be helpful.

I've used Cybrary.it prior I liked the videos, also Professor Messer on Youtube, both are great videos and you can learn alot of basics in networking watching those videos.
The videos are about 10-20 minutes a peice and each video is a new or different topic than the one prior.
I personally think its a great starting point for someone wanting to learn from the beginning. -

Get them an EdgeRouter lite and a single unifi AP, have them configure to start with.

@Dashrender did that with me when I was first starting to learn it.If they have a test environment available, also have them install and configure VyOS. Having to work from a command line teaches me much better than using a guide at least.

Agreed. Need something VERY basic. I'll start with the Messer videos and setup some sort of basic lab. Perhaps just a switch, and a cheap router with a GUI, so they can get the basic concepts and see them in action.

Something I have seen trip people up as they transition out of the basics is a poor understanding of binary and subnetting. As long as we have IPv4 it is a critical skill.

I'm guessing it does too. I was just calling it out specifically since it is an area that many skip because binary looks hard and useless.

I was like that with the ISO OSI model. Seemed so stupid. And in reality the most useful thing that I ever learned.

I don't think I ever had management access to a router until like 2013. I learned networking fundamentals before that, I was a bench tech at the time and was moving soon and thought it would help me get a job. I guess the basics all kind of make sense when you've dealt with things on the client side.
I don't remember my first time configuring a router at all, so it probably wasn't significant at that point, and it probably wasn't long before I had to doing working with juniper and cisco equipment at bit.
I learned by reading a 'Networking for Dummies' book and Professor Messer Network+ videos. I am a big fan of Pluralsight now though. But I just use it as an first step to get a introduction, and a bit of theory for some familiarity. Then I dive into a hands on project.
I do have to re-learning subnetting every time though. It think I came up in both of my MCSAs.
