Now, not to go totally south. I love the UniFi cameras too.

@jaredbusch did you add an additional card to each camera?
I will be because the auto AWS alert upload has a 5 minute cooldown.
I missed catching the neighbor boy smashing the garden because of that.
AWS alert upload, sorry can you explain that?
-
I have Ubiquiti UNifi Cameras in Multiple locations (Clients and Home) which work fine and as I have noted before I use an HTML5 web interface for the live feed.

The Wyze stuff comes with 14 days of free AWS alert history.
If you have alerts enabled, on motion detect, it records 12 secs and uploads to AWS.
Currently, only accessable via the app.

oh so it only actually records 12 seconds of motion. That motion then gets saved to AWS. So it's not 14 days rotating of live recording.
That could be a gotcha, and now makes it a mandate that SD cards for all of the camera's then.

@dustinb3403 Correct. It all depends on what type of recording you need.
That is why I said I also like the UniFi stuff with an NVR
But I did not need that at home.

But the Unifi camera stuff costs way more so I see why Wyze is pretty freaking awesome. $20 or $30 each.

Yea but I still would need to put power into my attic space, as I'm not running these through the drywall (if I could avoid it).

With the Wyze stuff I'm assuming there is some way you'd be able to download the footage from AWS (Obviously the SD card could just be pulled) if you needed to provide the footage to the cops or whoever.

When you view it in the app, there is a share button. One option is to save to your camera roll on your device. Or you can share to anything else your device knows to share video to.

And it is $20 for the base unit. The PAN is $30.
I have the WyzeCam2
Holu shit! That's tough to beat on pricing against most competitors! How long have you had yours?

I have two of the older UVC Micro cameras from Ubiquiti. They are wireless and the only ones that exist any more are wired. But we use them for the kids rooms and have the NVR running in a VM.
-
The NVR let's you draw the area you want to record of motion happens. No idea how other systems work with that.
-
I have 4 of the UVC 3 running on an Ubuntu NVR. Really solid. I also have a Raspberry Pi running a 4x4 matrix of these cams hooked up to my TV. Programmed a button on the Logitech remote to quickly switch to that input to get a quick view of the outside of the house if need be, then back to regular tv. I also have the Unifi video app on a cell phone to access any recordings needed. Caught some punk kid trying to pee in one of my bushes. They are all mounted under my soffit's so they stay out of the weather and the night vision isn't terrible either. I have had this setup for close to two years.

Going to take a quick look at em, do these also work for the outside?
Not yet weatherproof. But they have that in planning accoring to their social posts I found.
Ok, so not the intended goal I had in mind, but for $30 bucks it isn't a bad solution.
I'm seeing a USB cord, I assume this means USB to a power block. Do you like the power options? Any option for PoE?
Strictly powered from USB.
Which would mean where-ever I want this unit I would need to have an outlet within so many feet. Hrm. .
There are inexpensive PoE to USB adapters around you know. I've been using one of these with my RPi3 for around a year now.
