You have to uncheck it to do something on the host again.

Unless you have dual monitors. It works if you can click in another window in the host (or if you minimize the VM from the menu bar at the top).

Yeah that's not going to work.
I can't use two keyboards, and manually checking/unchecking that box every time is way too inconvenient.

How would you expect it to know when you want to use it where?
If you move your mouse up to the top and unmaximize the window you can use it in the host again. It just can't tell when you want buttons to work in one vs the other without being focused on another window.

Maybe it is specific to Gnome. I don't know, and I don't really want to use something else.
But no, even if my mouse is over that or the VM window is focused, it still does it on the host and does not open the Start menu in the VM.

I do not have this problem with Cinnamon.
When my mouse is over the VM, the windows start menu pops.
When my mouse is over anything else, the Fedora menu pops.

Do you have the correct spice drivers installed in the VM?

Ya I don't have this problem either and I'm running GNOME. Granted no Windows VMs so @JaredBusch could be right. But the input should be able to be passed through anyway.

Yeah I did install the Spice drivers you linked below way back when I created the VM.
Maybe things are updated, I'll do it again and see what happens.
Yeah I don't remember this issue on Cinnamon.

Didn't feel like uploading this to YouTube. I don't even have to set it to redirect the keyboard. Not sure what's going on.

Okay I figured out the issue.
It's Wayland.
If I log off Fedora, and log back in using Gnome Xorg instead, the start menu in my Windows VM opens up if the VM window is focused.

While using Wayland, if your keyboard has to Windows key, you can use the one on the right.
