Outlook 2016 Cannot Open Because of Set of Folders
-
Hold Ctrl and launch Outlook.
If this doesn't work, create a new Outlook profile from within the control panel.
-
Can you open it with "outlook.exe /safe"?
-
Usually a corrupt OST or PST file. I just usually create a new profile, then delete the old one

I've found a lot of them, doing repairs and seeing if that helps.

size of ost/pst very large ? I heard that above 50 GB it stops receiving or another program locking it, like Skype for Business.
-
Usually creating a new Outlook profile fixes things.
Long term fix is of course using something other than Outlook.

Large but nothing like that size. Largest was 14GB.

No kidding.

Is this Office 2013 or 2016? If so it should not be creating PSTs unless it is a POP account. It has been now OST only.

I always prefer PST for average user, it is very easy to handle and restore.
OST needs exporting to PST as backup and that is not very straight forward.I know you lose online features with PST, but for those you can use the web client.

No luck, same error with a new profile.

I hope you dont mean Mozilla Thunderbird, I use it for my personal 3 accounts, and I like the fact that it works with the extra 2 factor security, but it is slow and flaky, sometimes I need to send and double check, and send again.

Check that Outlook is not opened in the background still under processes.

Still better than Outlook.
But in reality, why use an email client with Exchange?

OWA gets flaky too if you leave it open for a while. I've seen this with users who have large amounts of email.
Still, users prefer the Outlook app vs OWA. -

hehe the wisdom always seems strong when your frustrated.
The thing is we use (traditional users) emails for everything, even sending files . The true alternative for emails is not using them, or limit them. Instead use groupware, where the DB belongs to you, and can be fixed and optimized or replicated, then use emails for everything else.
90 % of the emails will be sent to co-workers from all those emails, that can be better served with an self hosted slack alternative.
my 2 cent rant.
