After Liesl was born, since we didn't find out if she was a girl or a boy while we were pregnant, my mom sewed on a little pink bow between the ears.

Yes, we didn't find out ahead of time for either of the girls.

That is becoming less and less common these days. The doctors were thrilled that we cared about the health of the children and nothing else. They said often today the parents don't even care if they are healthy.

I find that hard to believe. They may really want to know the gender, but they still care about the health of their baby, unless they're a bad parent.

All the parents I've known (well) all have cared about their child's health extremely highly!
