        Curious as to what the advantage of going bare metal would be over getting 4 x dedicated instance (which is 100% of the server according to this - am I reading this right)? And the 4 x dedicated instance, if this is truly the whole server, would be cheaper and get you more bandwidth. Sure, the bare metal has no hypervisor but wouldn't you want virtualized OS anyway? I'm not sure I see the benefit.

          You can install your own hypervisor.

          It's a server. Do with it what you'd normally do.

            If you want to build a huge LXD host or something.

                More like a compute card, basically a GPU without a display output. Kinda like https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/elastic-gpus/details/ ?

                  Will have to read link when not driving, just wish I could have RemoteFX for Server 2016 RDSH which requires Hyper-V. I am assuming you can now roll Hyper-V on this new bare metal solution?

                      I don't see an option to do it correctly, but they do have 2012 R2 and 2016 versions of Windows Server available. You'd have to upload the Hyper-V ISO to get it installed bare-metal like it should be.

                        That seems awful expensive though... $300 per month?

                        I'm getting roughly half the specs for $25 a month...

                          You don't have access to hardware though. Which is where the additional expense comes in.

                                    I wouldn't want a bare-metal server without some kind of redundant disk. That's why, with my VPS, that I went VPS instead of bare-metal (well one of the reasons). The twice as beefy bare-metal only had a single disk drive in it. No thanks.
                                    The VPS uses RAID10 SSDs.

                                        @aaronstuder gotcha...

                                        I was trying to stay at the $20 mark. I did have the option of adding more physical drives and other resources too. But that increased the price.

                                          While that company is a good value, and where I currently run my home lab from. The first of the two servers I had with them had all kinds of drive issues, even after the HDDs were replaced. Many support cases later, I ended up just moving it all to a different server. Would never trust them to run actual workloads, sadly.
