A sage piece of advice as we head into winter:
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow..."
Sage?! What? Where! <twitches>
Ok, maybe a poor choice of words on my part... didn't mean to trigger you.

Learning how to upgrade my laptop to Fedora 27 via
dnf
rather than going to sleep.dnf upgrade --refresh -y dnf install dnf-plugin-system-upgrade -y dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=27 -y dnf system-upgrade reboot
Yep. I kept looking for the
system-upgrade
parameter in the man pages, and then realized I had to install that plugin. You're trying to hard.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DNF_system_upgradeI had already posted a one liner in this thread to just run and it fully updates.
You should've put that in it's own thread, makes it easier to find latter on.
There is a thread from Fedora 25 to 26 already.
https://mangolassi.it/topic/14388/updating-fedora-25-to-fedora-26-with-dnf/1Maybe you need to search better?
I searched for Scott's last week but could never find it. I instead went to Fedora and they gave a couple of lines on how to do this. I did this in one night. Pretty simple and easy.
I'm use to using google search when searching for contents on a website.
fedora upgrade dnf site:mangolassi.it

So we are getting popular today.

The search is really bad on this platform, unless you spend a few extra minutes adjusting all the options and use better search terms.
I tend to use tags more for searching.
but google works really well with "site:mangolassi.it"

Got modded for the most trivial, helpful post. New record for "that got moderated?" To the point that it was outright insulting to the guy's whose thread it was that it get removed. They basically felt he was both an emotional child and an idiot. It was shocking.

What?
On SW. Generally I get modded for something real. Mostly. Today's, though, was the most shocking mod ever. A completely helpful post with nothing even slightly rude or anything. And it helped the guy find his answer, even. I have zero clue why it got modded. The logic that David gave me doesn't reflect at all what I posted. Makes no sense at all.
-
This just in: SW mods are frequently heavy handed and apply the "rules" in a painfully inconsistent manner, yet there is nobody there who will have a sit-down with any of the mods to correct this behavior.
In other news: David Ass has gotten even worse with his random and vindictive removal of posts. It's now impossible to tell whose posts will get removed and whose won't. Recommended course of action is to log out of that steaming dumpster fire they call a forum and never look back.

Reinstalling Sage on a workstation.
-
Installed a couple of Linux distros to USB today... (Fedora 27 and Deepin)... Only Deepin had working Wifi drivers for a broadcom chip out of the box.

I think in my next job interview I need to ask if I’ll be supporting Sage. If the answer is “yes,” then my follow up will be “Well, thank you for your time
Have a nice day. “ -

I'll support anything for the right price. Granted anyone willing to pay my price to support some systems is likely not going to be in business long though.

Supporting Sage is like being Principal of a middle school. You can’t pay me enough to do that gig.

Eh. . . I've heard of the horror stories for Sage, and I have to say for the right amount of money, anything is doable.

No amount of money can fully mitigate stress.

Except maybe herding a bunch of snot-nosed, petulant, adolescent shites (middle school principal). I'd only do that job if I could carry a BB gun around and shoot kids as I saw fit. Otherwise, no deal... not even for 7 figures.
