Man, I read this article. And all I can think is this sucks in so many ways. The girls are impressionable young teens and made a stupid decision, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. Which unfortunately because of their choices may not be very long at all.

Honestly, at that age they are adults and if their decision making skills are that bad, I'd be happy not to have them back in society. It's unfortunate that they are so foolish, but they have no one to blame but themselves and if they hadn't done this it seems like they would have done some other horrible thing. I can't imagine that losing them is really a loss to Austrian society. It's sad for their families, but these don't appear to be people who cared much about their families anyway.

It sucks, but I would not risk a single life trying to get them back. They made the conscious decision to join ISIS , as stupid as it was.

If I were Austria, I might not let them back. It would be awful is something bad happened to them, but even more awful is something bad happened because someone allowed them to come back home.

Exactly, who knows where their loyalty really lies. If they can be convinced to make a total life altering decision without thinking of the consequences. What is to stop them from doing that again?

Yes, these sound like potentially very dangerous people. The chances that they will ever be valuable members of society seems unlikely. Fifteen and seventeen years old is not young and they are able to make decisions like adults. These are not kids and this shows a severe lack of critical thinking and ethics.
