I have all my professors using backblaze. For $50/user/year. You can't pass it up.

It's always been a solid service.

We've been on it for about 3 years now. I have only had to request 1 full hard drive of data. Otherwise it was a file here or there.

        Love the product and service!

That's the impression I have. I've always liked Backblaze, if for no other reason their transparency about their infrastructure, and cool hard drive failure reports.

I don't think $10/m is all that terrible if I had to, but if BB is $50/yr and also unlimited, what's the benefit? I'd rather save the other $5 and buy another silly online subscription!

I like CrashPlan enough, I'll pay the $10 a month for it. It works, and, I didn't have to reupload my 980 something gigs worth of stuff when I switched from Home to Pro.

I was on Crashplan for many years, simple unlimited plan, cheap enough, just my one home computer.

Now they are getting rid of "home" plans, only business plans, which would be $10/m per computer.

I'm looking at options, I'm sure I'm not the only one! iDrive, Crashplan business, BackBlaze, Spideroak, etc etc

A few features would be nice:
Ability to adjust what is backed up, not one of these "we'll automatically grab only your user folder and exclude tons of stuff" deals.
Client-side encryption would be nice. Trust no one.
Individual file restores, ability to browse backup files and histories, etc.
Restore to alternate computer in case of new HDD or crash, etc.
              Light on resources.

I'm considering two options at the moment. Continue with Crashplan business as they are giving 75% discount for first year. That at least puts off the decision for another year, and I don't have to wait weeks to upload backup to new service.
Backblaze, for home plan is $5/m unlimited. But business plan is also unlimited for $50/yr (which is $4.17/m) .

I'm already paying Crashplan $6.54/m, so switch to BB is actually cheaper anyway. I don't really want to do $10/m on CP.

              Any other good options?

I use BB business, think it was 47$ for the year. Took 3 days to back everything up but its just archive for me. Its my 3rd copy and protection against Texas tornadoes that happen every year. Been happy so far but havent had to use it. I did check on how fast it is to get files back and they came along decently quick

I keep important stuff on OneDrive synced to an external USB drive. If my computer or USB drive dies, no problem. If the cloud dies, no problem. If the cloud and my drive dies... ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Just beware that if you are using Backblaze to backup servers or workstations you cannot restore bare-metal. Idrive is cheap but it has its issues at times. I would give Backblaze a try.

But everyone doesn’t upload 10TB. Most don’t upload anywhere close.

How many people have desktops that can hold 10TB? I don’t know anyone.

I know of 2. 1 is me and another is someone who does video work on the side. That's probably more than anyone else here.

Does BB have a referral program? I'm probably going to switch from CrashPlan to BB if I like it, and somebody here might as well benefit from it.
