@scottalanmiller So how do you do it through the normal ticketing system then? I guess I am just not getting how to do it so I can keep it assigned to the machine and the user for that machine.

Well the user should be tied to the machine, not the ticket. The ticket should just be tied to the machine. Is there not an ability any longer to select the asset when making a ticket?
-
@scottalanmiller hmm. This is weird because that option wasn't there and now it is.

LOL, I have no idea about that. We've been using it for a long time. I've not had a SW helpdesk in quite some time, so I'm going from memory from years ago.
-
@scottalanmiller What are you using for a ticketing system then? Did I miss that?

SodiumSuite is being moved to from osTicket. But our focus is on SodiumSuite as I'm involved with it. So a lot of incentive to get moved over.
-
@scottalanmiller hosted, yes? No in house option?

SodiumSuite is hosted only, correct. There is no on premises deployment available. But it does asset scanning from the hosted version, so doesn't have that limitation that some others do not.
SW is always at least partially hosted as well. They don't offer a fully on premises version. Some of the data (no one knows for which how much - only that it is more than is disclosed) and the user data is all hosted. The on premises portion is "extra".
-
@scottalanmiller Option to migrate from SW?

Not yet. It's been talked about, but that is a lot of work and is not yet implemented. But it is planned, but no idea what the priority might be.

This actually has been something that I've been thinking about. It has been expressed by a few members. I am working currently on slicking up a few things and this might be part of it.

It might be a rather high priority. Would be awfully handy and several people have mentioned it including @Minion-Queen

As I am becoming less and less impressed with SW. I was almost considering an MSP type software to move to.

Time to strike while the iron is hot and migrate some people

Maybe @QuixoticJeremy can whip up some minimal migration tools quickly
-
@QuixoticJeremy does have a team of new people coming on, maybe one of them could help with a migration tool.

It's very possible. Would definitely be worth the effort.

And if it is only helpdesk, might not be all that much effort. It might be decently simple. Little Python script or something. It's just SQlite.

Actually exactly what I was thinking...
