I know I need to exercise but I haven't had the motivation to. What I need for that is a workout buddy to drag my ass to the gym, or someone I can tag team off of.

You don't have to have a workout buddy. What you need to do is start exercising for 5-10 minutes a day. After a few weeks you can increase it to 10-15 minutes a day. You can do this at home with absolutely no equipment. Here are 50 exercises you can do without any equipment

@ajstringham We used to walk along the trails in the green spaces. They are all over that area. Does your apartment complex have a gym? People would be there if you went at the right time, and then maybe you'd get some social in. How about walking to a restaurant instead of driving?

5 minutes of exercise is better than 0 minutes of exercise. Like @Dominica said, do something small to give yourself exercise

You could walk to Denny's or walk to get froyo.

When we were in training for our backpacking-across-Europe trip, we used to walk for froyo and coffee, because it's easier to do the walking when you have a treat at the end.

Do you have a camp/nature trails near by we have some of those they are my favorite. I love nature. I'm not so much of a gym type person.

Not much of an outdoorsy person myself. I don't like bugs, which is why I always loved winter in NY.

@ajstringham Then walking or the exercises previously mentioned, are a great choice for you, cause they are free. Oh, and for the socializing problem, how about joining the library, and then seeing if they have a book club or other interest clubs? I know ours has that stuff, it's all free and possibly a good way to meet people. Maybe just retired people, but still - people!

Dallas wasn't all that bad with bugs except in the summer.

Also don't get on the computer/phone the last hour before you go to bed it will keep you up much longer. both because of the backlight and because it distracts you.

Dallas is pretty good. CNY is horrible for bugs!

I joined Toastmasters for this reason. They meet at the Timberglen Library.

I placed second. I was actually told that if I had opened with the formalities "Distinguished Toastmasters, Fellow Toastmasters, and Distinguished Guests", I probably would have won. I was told the content of my evaluation was much better and stronger than the other speaker.

Thanks. I've been doing public speaking since I was 5 in front of 100+ audiences. However, until I joined Toastmasters, it was always from behind a platform. With Toastmasters, you may or may not have a podium, and you are often expect to move around the stage, which feels so freaking weird to me I can't even explain it. Basically, what I'm learning now is the whole stage presence without a podium thing, and how to work it. I'm getting there.
