      @scottalanmiller I never had any issues with my iPhone 7 headphones.

      Mine would work once in a while, but maybe 15% of the time, tops. It was clearly a software issue, was more dependent on reboots and never could I plug and unplug and have it affect anything.

      I use mine hours at a time when driving back and forth to St. Louis and have zero issues.

        I also use mine daily and have never had an issue. @scottalanmiller have you taken your phone or headphones in under warranty?

          Warranty services is so awful with Apple. That itself is a bit of a product failure. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is hell. I fear any Apple warranty interaction.

            I wonder if you just got a bad phone. I've had an iPhone since their first introduction 10 yrs ago and I've always been happy with the product reliability and performance. I've also needed to bring both an iPhone and iPad in for warranty and in both cases have been nothing but happy with the outcome.

              Don't think that that is likely, as it seems to have been software from the beginning and some patch along the way seems to have fixed it. But I've grown so completely accustomed to not being able to use headphones with my phone that I almost never try, so the issue might remain and I just never test it any more. But I think it has gone away finally.

                I can't imagine having that not work. I use it constantly (though I have broken I think like 6 pairs of the ear buds).

                      When I was managing mobile phones (thankfully I don't now) I had two users who kept getting this same issue. The earpiece would never work, they would have to talk on speaker phone our use a set of earbuds in order to have a conversation that they could hear. Oddly the two users were brothers and in sales so it was a huge issue. One of them went through four different iPhone 6's (I think) before downgrading to an older model.

                        Well sure, but earbuds suck. Get some damn headphones.
