Equifax Has 143 Million Americans Data Compromised

@dustinb3403 how about all 143 million of us each get an appointment to spend 10 seconds each wailing on the equifax liars with a cricket bat?
In fact, I call for the public torture and execution of any and all business dicks who engage in such chicanery and malfeasance. Make it so brutal that it actually becomes a deterrent.

At 10 seconds for 143 Million people there would be nothing left after about 2 million people.

Wow...
Par for the course. Likely there was no breach at all, they probably just sold the data.

@danp I'm not surprised.
Can we hang him now?

I say string him up by his nuts.

@danp I didn't say how we should hang him.

What?
To their defense, I'm sure that the internal investigation into the hack was not disclosed to the IRS. Probably because either:
- The people doing the negotiations were not aware of the compromise themselves
- They knew about the compromise and knew of the implications as to what that would happen for their chances of being awarded the IRS contract.

Possibility, but that would mean the bribing of a public/government official. If caught, the agent to the IRS is in about as deep of crap as Equifax is.

Equifax is not in any trouble. That's not how things work in the US.
-
Only American citizens were compromised. The government doesn't care about jcompanies collecting and selling our data, a breach is just a sale for cheap.

I think you're making the assumption that the rules actually apply to any branch of government, and that gov't agencies operate under the law. That is simply not true. Governments, much like the police, can do anything they want at any time. There might be a little "backlash" later, but the bottom line is that they flaunt the law and get away with it, every single day.

What trouble is Equifax in?
-
Because of this contract, now the government has a stake in the game. They will probably do a full investigation to see if their information was compromised, who was incompetent, who made the decisions, etc.
