HPE SmartArray P420 Memory Overwritten Error
-
Someone had this error today and I've never seen it before. This is on an HP SmartArray P420 hardware RAID controller that suffered a power surge without a UPS attached.
1706 The Extended BIOS Data Area in Server Memory has been overwritten. Smart Array Interrupt 13h BIOS Cannot Continue - System Halted.
Obviously, the RAID card is not working at this point and data is inaccessible. Anyone seen this or have any ideas?

Sounds pretty bad. Any way to get new or old firmware to try and reload?
Are you able to get to BIOS at all? -

From Scott's post it seemed to say the data written to the drives that allows rebuilding the array when the RAID is replaced is what is missing. If that data is gone, aren't you hosed? Unless it is backed up somewhere?

It's not the disks that are bad, it's the controller itself. It's ROM is messed up.

With luck the flashed controller will pull the array data back in.
