Don't worry, Linux still has plenty of paint-like options.

Will be removed automatically with the Next update I should imagine , I use Linux for some servers, but it won't be long before my full personal desktop will move over, getting the hump with these forced updates and features.

If I have a program installed, I would like it to stay and not be removed automatically just because Microsoft want to, I'm sure we will all be on monthly subscriptions for our O.S soon as well.

Which distro are you looking at? Worked with my dad this week to get him ready for his move from Windwos 7 to Deepin.

I don't see a subscription for consumers to ever be a thing with Windows.

But the removal of software with no replacement is definitely crap!

This all said, the main person behind the Paint.Net project has said that he is updating Paint.Net to be able to be published into the Windows Store.

Well, Paint is still used but you can have other tools as well 🙂 The other features to be removed are below:

I may seem petty, I normally use photoshop anyway, but my main point is I don't want it removed, I've had it on my machine since windows 3.0

@scottalanmiller - I've tried many, I'm not sure which distro to go with though, I have downloaded deepin to try, as You showed some nice pics in your thread the other day, haven't got round to trying it in a VM yet though.

Deepin is definitely a nice place to look. I've had a lot of good experiences with Korora and Gecko recently. My wife's laptop and my desktop are Gecko now (both with the Budgie desktop).

@scottalanmiller Do you use these on your main machines Scott? I have been a fan of gnome before ubuntu changed to unity, But gnome has changed so much since then, I'm aware ubuntu is going back to gnome, but I'm not sure If I like the new gnome. I know I want a Debian based distro, so it's just finding a gui I like.

No, my MAIN machine is the laptop that I am on right now and that is Ubuntu 17.04 because that's what successfully installed here, so I use that (with Unity right now.) Gecko is on my secondary machine.

I don't want a Debian based distro, but oddly this one worked (and Mint did not, no idea why.)

Budgie Environment looks nice, might have to try that, the notification area looks very well done, just seen some images of that, not seen that one before.

Without moving too far away from op, how about Microsoft make paint open source and give it to the people to look after and manage.

Budgie comes from the Solus project.

It's not as good as already existing open source options 🙂 And they might be embarrassed about the code.

@scottalanmiller lol, this is probably true, I do remember an article about some os code that was leaked a long time ago and they were quite embarrassed with even some of the comments that was left in the code as well.

Ha ha. Yeah stuff like this dating from the Windows 3 era is bound to be atrocious.
