I am looking at United flights (because mileage award) for me to leave on July 13. With all of us returning on July 25.

FFS these $2.50 instances are slow as crap. I think that their systems are severely overloaded. I cannot even get Fedora 25 to install into an instance in NJ (only $2.50 available).
So, I assume, this means the hardware is likely busy as f***...

Double the density per core, minimum, I'm sure. That alone will do a lot.

Yeah, I just destroyed the instance. Not worth my time.

@JaredBusch I am using them without issues... should I upgrade?

not likely.. but install takes a ton of process more than a basic running instance in most cases. So once running, you weill likely not see any issues unless the VM is already busy.

Didn't have any issues installing from an ISO or running anything on the server. But you're probably right they are likely oversubscribed.

That's very interesting. Did you contact support per chance?
And secondly, are the specs of the cheap box supposed to be able to run what you wanted? Not just looking at purely under-powered instance?
I mean, it IS under-powered, but by the books, does that instance meet the hardware requirements of what you wanted to load? -

It would take more time than simply spinning up an instance on a different host (I chose Tokyo for the hell of it) and getting done what was needed.
And what I am trying to run is not relevant when the install process would not complete.
That said, yes, it would run what I was trying to do just fine.
Here is a current

@JaredBusch Seems like a much more useful process viewer. Nice. What other packages do you use for server management? Thing's you'd use in any deployment

So moral of the story; don't bother with a $2.50 VULTR instance.

I would not say that. But because of the sheer popularity of them, it may be not worth the time to setup.

Right the system was probably totally overloaded at the time.
