Why do sales people always have to remind you that they are trying to sell something to you AGAIN?

Are you supposed to feel sorry for them if it is the 5th time they try to send out a blind email?

The best ones are the cold calls, and then when you try to kindly say you aren't interested... they think that is an opportunity to push harder... then they get angry like it's you who is being unreasonable when you just start saying dumb things to kindly get them off the phone.

I simply warn them up front that I have a hearing problem (which, I do)... but now that I can talk on the phone again, My batteries will die, or my hearing will mysteriously get worse and worse as the phone call goes on if they don't catch the hint.

I hate the cold calls where they pretend they've already talked to you before or your boss asked them to talk to you.

I wish they would just stop the BS small talk. I know you're a salesperson trying to get me to sell something. You aren't my friend.

@dafyre Lol... yesterday, we apparently have no plans on improving our IT infrastructure in the future! Got them off the phone though.

                  Pfft Cold Calls -

I got so tired of those I made a Silent Ring tone for my iPhone and set it as the default. If I don't know you, therefore giving you a ring tone, I don't hear my phone ringing any more. If it's important enough to leave a voice mail and I'll hear that.

I have avoided so many calls this way.

They have quotas for cold calls that they have to meet. It still sucks, but that's what they are measured on as well as the actual sales they make.

What ticks me off the most is when they hide their caller ID. Right to vm you go. One company called me relentlessly at 8:30 everyday, on the dot. They never got the hint. One day, one guy sitting in my chair picked up and transferred it to me. I told them it was better for them to contact me by email. They kept calling. Eventually they got the hint.

I started sending this pre-built template email out when I dont want to be bothered. It seems to be working so far.

                        Hi Matt,

I just wanted to email you back really quick so we don't waste each other's time. I am very busy now and this something we are not interested in. I appreciate you reaching out, but I am currently working priority tasks and ask that you don't reach out again. If I am ever interested in your product, I will reach out to you.

Just tell them to put you on their do not contact list. Since these are bulk emails and phone calls they have to honor that or face fines.

I really wish that worked, but I've tried this and kept getting calls from the same vendor (different sales dick). I would truly love to report them so they get in legal trouble, but I just don't have the time.

If I answer cold calls, I generally pick up the phone and say "IT department, we do not accept vendor cold calls" and immediately hang up. Call back, and I will unleash a barrage of profanity on you that would make Andrew Dice Clay blush. I hope I've made some of those repeat callers cry or at least consider a career change.

When I ran a call center for a used car dealership the first person to get a verbal complaint / abuse for frequent contact would get a steak & liquid lunch out with me.

                                Is it annoying? Hell Yes!

                                Does it work? Hell Yes!

That's the worst part. Any person who accepts cold calls is the real source of the problem.

Oh we have gotten a call or two that is OUR OWN NUMBER!! I wouldn't call myself,.. so I won't answer that either.

"Anonymous" and "Unregistered" have been calling me for weeks now. They never bother to leave a voicemail.
