Are there any web hosts or hosting providers in the house??

That's definitely not web hosting That's online backup hosting. Very different term. Web host would be someone hosting websites.
-
Have you seen Cloudways managed cloud hosting?

That's Cloudways for those without a link.

I don't see what cloudways does, they list a bunch of vps and cloud providers on their page...
What's a DO license? I know I've heard this... maybe... or it's just the developer side in thinking of.

I've had the same issue. I know what they do from customers talking about it. But everytime I go to their page I'm like... I can't tell what this service is. Nothing says what they offer, anywhere. Even knowing them pretty well from other users, I'm never clear if they will meet any given need that I have because the site doesn't tell me anything.

Digital Ocean would be my guess.

Cloudways is a single management pane for a bunch of different hosting providers. So if you have services with Vultr, Linode, and AWS, you can manage all of those in one place.
Edit: At least it was, looks like they've added a lot of features since I looked at it last.

That's not very interesting. It triples the cost just to keep me from opening three windows instead of one? That can't be their selling point. I can install Mist.io for $2.50/mo and get that for all kinds of stuff. And Cloudways doesn't handle Linode, so wouldn't do anything for me.

But what ARE those features? What are you seeing?

@scottalanmiller Some sort of optimized CMS hosting service. I haven't looked any further than the bottom of the page you linked yet, so no idea on the details.

That's what I thought, but it doesn't seem to say that anywhere. So I'm lost. I have no idea for what purpose I would choose this verses something else. I'm unclear what their competition or use case is.

I'd call them a managed web app service. They offer the following applications in several cloud server providers.
Setup in what they call Thunderstack, which is:
I was using them to host a couple of wordpress instances using their $5 a month plan on Digital Ocean (which they now offer for $7). So they basically managed the OS and their stack and I dealed with Wordpress just as any another web hosting provider with the advantage of having better performance thanks to using a vps.

Do they deal with security and CDN on Wordpress? Like a replacement for pagely or wpengine?

They don't really specialized in wordpress so don't think they are fully comparable
